To create Chao Data, place your Chao on the Chao Machine and push the big red button. In the "Select a vmu" menu, highlight the desired VMU and press and hold Y+A until you hear a "ring" sound.
Congratulations! You have successfully created Chao Data and can upload your information to the Chao Gardens.
To make room for a Chao from Black Market, you can release your Chao back into the Garden. The Chao Upload file should still be in your VMU.
